Summary of the Study
This study seeks to examine the effect of PMA in reducing the phenomenon of bounced checks, as well as to test the relationship between economic activity and the size of this phenomenon. The study is based mainly on the instructions and procedures issued by the Palestinian Monetary Authority regarding bounced checks, as the study relied on data checks presented for clearing and bounced all currencies on a monthly basis during the period (1996-2014). To reach the goal; study methodology uses of multi-linear regression. Also been applied to the model in which the ratio of bounced checks in terms of number and value to the total checks presented for clearing all currencies denominated in dollars, and at the level of each coin as the dependent variable, and the rate of growth in GDP and the dummy variable takes the values of (0,1) according to the date of the instructions issued by the authority Palestinian Monetary as independent variables. The study found the presence of a significant impact and are statistically significant to the instructions of the Palestinian Monetary Authority in reducing the percentage of bounced checks in terms of number and value, in addition to having a significant impact and statistical significance between the rate of growth in gross domestic product and the percentage of bounced checks in terms of number and value. At the end of the study included a set of recommendations that may help in reducing the spread of this phenomenon.
