يعتبر تعلم لغة أجنبية أمر مهم جداً في حياة الإنسان إذ أن تعلم لغة أجنبية يكسب الإنسان مهارات لغويةجديدة بالإضافةإلى إكساب الإنسان مهارات إدارية و تربوية جديدة. و يعتبر تعلم لغة أخرى من الأمور الضورية في حياة الشعوب فلذلك نجد أن العديد من دول العالم جعلت في مناهجها التربوية و التعليمية لغة أجنبية أخرى إلى جانب لغة الدولة الرسميةفعلى سبيل المثال قام الإتحاد الأوروبي بتدريس لغة ثانية إلى جانب اللغة الرسمية المتداولة داخل الدولة.


ينعكس تعلم لغة أجنبية على المرء بشكل إيجابي إذ أثبتت الدراسات أن تعلم لغةأخرى لأطفال في سنوات مبكرة من العمريفيد في إثراء لغته و يساعده على تعلم القراة والكتابة بشكل أفضل. كما و تشير الدراسات أن تعلم لغة أخرى للطفل يعمل على تطوير نسبة ذكائه و يساعده على تطوير مهاراته الدراسية والحصول على علامات أفضل في تحصيله الدراسي.


كما و أثبتت الدراسات أن تعلم لغة أخرى يفيد من الناحة الثقافية حيث أنه يُفتح عقل الإنسان على ثقافات مختلفة حيث يُبعد الشخص عن الفكر المتشدد و يجعله أكثر قابلية و قدرة على التعرف على عادات أخرى مختلفة عنه.


كما أنّ تعلم لغة أخرى يفيد في تعزيز الشخصية وزيادة الثقة بالنفس للشخص إذ يشعر بأنه أكثر قدرة على الإتصال و التواصل مع أشخاص مختلفين عنه و أنه يستطيع التفاهم والتواصل معهم بشكل جيد.كما أنها تتيح للشخص فرص جيدة للعمل و فرص للحصول على منح خارجية من أجل التعلم.
