كوريا الجنوبية تقيم علاقات دبلوماسية مع أكثر من 188 بلدا. وكانت البلاد وهو أيضا عضو في الأمم المتحدة منذ عام 1991، عندما أصبحت دولة من الدول الأعضاء في نفس الوقت مثل كوريا الشمالية. في 1 كانون الثاني 2007، تولى الكوري الجنوبي بان وزير الخارجية بان كي مون منصب الأمين العام للأمم. وقد وضعت أيضا وصلات مع رابطة دول جنوب شرق آسيا كعضو كلا من الآسيان زائد ثلاثة، وهي هيئة من المراقبين، وقمة شرق آسيا (EAS).
