توماس ألفا إديسون (بالإنجليزية: Thomas Alva Edison) ‏ (1847-1931)، مخترع ورجل أعمال أمريكي. اخترع العديد من الأجهزة التي كان لها أثرا كبيرا على البشرية حول العالم، مثل تطوير جهاز الفونوغراف وآلة التصوير السينمائي بالإضافة إلى المصباح الكهربائي المتوهج العملي الذي يدوم طويلا ً. أطلق عليه مراسل إحدى الصحف لقب "ساحر مينلو بارك" (The Wizard of Menlo Park) [1]، يعتبر إديسون من أوائل المخترعين الذين قاموا بتطبيق مبدأ الإنتاج الشامل والعمل الجماعي على نطاق واسع لعملية الإختراع، لذا كان يـُعرف بأنه أول من أنشأ مختبرا ً للأبحاث الصناعية.[2]
