Position: Monitoring Officer
Location: Benghazi,

Background on Cesvi
Cesvi is a non-governmental, international humanitarian organization working for global solidarity in 30 countries throughout the world. Cesvi has been working in Western and Eastern Libya, with support from international donors and cooperating with local counterparts, since March 2011 in the following sectors: Provision of emergency relief to conflict-affected families, support to the local agricultural sector, child protection and promotion of a favorable protection environment for refugees, asylum seekers and irregular migrants.
Background on the project
The project “Strengthening the protection environment of refugees, asylum seekers and irregular migrants in Libya”, funded by UNHCR, intends to promote a favorable protection environment for refugees, asylum seekers and irregular migrants in both Western and Eastern Libya through protection monitoring, provision of psychosocial assistance, management of a Social Centre and capacity building for the Libyan civil society.

Objective The Monitoring Officer will be in charge of conducting monitoring visits and of assessing the protection situation of refugees, asylum seekers and irregular migrants in Benghazi and surrounding area.
Tasks and responsibilities
• Monitor the situation of refugees, asylum seekers and irregular migrants in Western Libya and provide updates on protection issues, concerns and incidents;
• Participate in assessments of target beneficiaries to determine protection concerns and responses;
• Manage and carry out collection, analysis and interpretation of field data and prepare reports;
• Represent CESVI in a professional manner in meetings and ensure good cooperation with local partners and other relevant actors

Profile and requirements

• Good command of written and spoken English;
• Average IT skills: Microsoft Word and Excel;
• Sensitivity in dealing with refugees, asylum seekers and irregular migrants;
• Accuracy in collecting and analyzing data;
• Professional behavior in representing CESVI when dealing with external actors;
• Reliability, proactivity and ability to carry out tasks independently, truthfulness and accuracy in reporting to supervisors;
• Capacity to apply gender, ethnic and environmental sensibilities to programme activities.
• Desired assets:
• Experienced in working with local civil society organizations/social services/International NGOs;
• Motivation to work for a civil society organization on social issues
