In his article “What the Nobel Peace Prize Truly Values”, Faulk (2016), argued about awarding the Nobile Peace Prize to those who aspire to peace as well as those who have already achieved peace. He has explained that the Nobile Committee is not completely fair in granting such prize providing the examples of the president of Columbia Santos and the American president Obama. Faulk was convincing in his argument about the lack of clarity in awarding the Nobile Peace Prize.
People who aspire to peace should be awarded the Peace Nobile Prize but according to clear criteria. I agree with Faulk that they should be honored for their efforts even if they failed to achieve this peace. However, there should be clarity concerning such choices as Faulk claimed through the case of president Santos who was awarded the Nobile Peace prize for just trying to achieve peace in his country. As Faulk explained, Santos’ peace partner should be honored too.
Another point of agreement with Faulk concerning the lack of clarity in awarding Nobile Peace Prize is that of human rights and environmental activists. It is obvious that those people exert much effort but their efforts are away from peace. There is no obvious link between their contributions and achieving peace.
