 على الأمم المتحدة أن تسترضي الائتلاف الذي تتزعمه السعودية بشأن قضية قتل الأطفال إبان نزاع اليمن

 

قالت منظمة العفو الدولية اليوم إن مصداقية الأمم المتحدة قد غدت على المحك عقب رضوخها على نحو مخزٍ أمام الضغوط لحذف الائتلاف العسكري الذي تقوده المملكة العربية السعودية من لائحة الأمم المتحدة للدول والجماعات التي تنتهك حقوق الأطفال إبان النزاعات.

فليلة أمس، أعلن متحدث باسم الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، بان غي مون، عن تغيير في اللائحة التي أعلنت في 2 يونيو/حزيران، كجزء من التقرير السنوي للممثل الخاص للأمين العام المعني بالأطفال في النزاع المسلّح. وجاء هذا الإعلان نتيجة ضغوط دبلوماسية مارستها السعودية، التي أغضبها توصل الأمم المتحدة إلى استخلاص بأن عمليات الائتلاف قد أدت إلى وفاة ومعاناة الأطفال في النزاع المسلح في اليمن.

وتعليقاً على الموقف المعيب للأمم المتحدة، قال ريتشارد بينيت، ممثل منظمة العفو الدولية ورئيس مكتبها لدى الأمم المتحدة، إنه "لم يسبق للأمم المتحدة أن تخاذلت وانحنت أمام الضغوط على هذا النحو وغيرت تقريراً نشرته بنفسها بشأن الأطفال في النزاع المسلح. ومن غير المعقول أن يتم ذلك تحت ضغوط مارستها إحدى الدول عينها التي أتى التقرير على ذكرها.

"ومن شأن مثل هذا الاسترضاء الصريح أن تقوِّض عمل الأمم المتحدة من أجل حماية الأطفال الذين تتهددهم الحرب. ويتعين للحظر الذي أعلنه الأمين العام أن لا يرضخ أمام الضغوط على نحو يقوض الدور المهم الذي تقوم به ممثله الخاص. فبإقدامه على ذلك، يكون قد ألحق أذى شديداً بمصداقية الأمم المتحدة وما تمثله.

"إن هذا مثال فاضح على صحة المطالبات بأن تنهض الأمم المتحدة بدورها في الدفاع عن حقوق الإنسان وعن مبادئها هي نفسها-حتى لا تصبح وربما في الغد القريب جزءاً من المشكلة وليس من الحل."

وطبقاً للأمم المتحدة، فإن هذا الحذف مؤقت إلى حين الانتهاء من مراجعة نتائج التقرير على نحو مشترك مع سلطات المملكة العربية السعودية. ولكن الدبلوماسيين السعوديين في الأمم المتحدة سارعوا إلى إطلاق الأهازيج بعد أن رأوا في هذا نصراً معنوياً "لا راد له
