تــم انشأ المـركـــز فـي ( 1407هـ ) بموجب عقـد مبرم مع الجيش الأمريكي وتـم دعمــه بالأجهــــزة المرجعيـــة والكـــادر الفنـــي وبعــــدد ( 7 ) مختبرات عبارة عــــن (شاحنة لوري 5 طن قابلة للتمدد) تــم توزيعها عـلى صيانة القاعدة لمسانـدة المـركـز فـي تنفيذ برنامج المعايرة والإصلاح للوحدات في المناطق التابعة لها.
