I'm a cosplayer and wanted to see how these products work with different materials. The conclusion that I drew from this demo is that Scotchgard is NeverWet's little brother. It's like the halfway point between NeverWet and having nothing at all. So I guess just gauge how much water you think is going to get on your project and go from there :)

NeverWet states on the package and instructions that it is not really meant for clothing. I would say protective gear like boots would be alright, but anything you need to stay flexible like gloves should probably be avoided. I think awnings and other canvas type fabric meant to keep out rain would be another good place to use it. If you are a costume maker that works with plastics and foams this might work for you. Always test your materials before applying to your project!
