في المكتبة مجموعة كبيرة من الكتب تقدر ب 2 مليون كتاب باللغات العربية والإنجليزية والفرنسية وكذلك مجموعة مختارة من كتب بلغات أوروبية أخرى مثل الألمانية والإيطالية والإسبانية ولغات أخرى نادرة مثل الكريبولية ولغة هايتي وزولو .
وبحكم أني أحب القراءة جداً واستمتع بها فأتمنى لو أني أعيش بداخلها طوال حياتي حتى أنتهي من قراءة الكتب الموجودة بها .
مكتبة الإسكندرية هي المكتبة الفرانكفونية الثانية في العالم بعد مكتبة نيويورك في ثراء مجموعاتها باللغة الفرنسية .
وهي مقسمة لسبعة أقسام مختلفة من أهمها :
مكتبة المواد السمعية والبصرية.
مكتبة المكفوفين (مكتبة طه حسين).
مكتبة المواد الميكروفيلمية .
مكتبة الخرائط .
الكتب النادرة والمجموعات الخاصة .
وبها العديد من المتاحف .
لذا أنا أتمنى حقاً أن يأتي يوم أكون قد انهيت فيه كل جزء في هذه المكتبة لأني إن أكملت ذكر مايوجد بها فلن يكون كافيا لموضوع بسيط كهذا .
