طه حسين ولد في نوفمبر 1889في محافظة المنيا بالصعيد وكان سابع واحد في الاسرة فقد بصره في السادسه من عمره نتيجة الفقر والجهل ،،حفظ القران الكريم ،ودخل الازهر ،
حصل علي درجة الدكتوراه الاولي في الاداب سنة 1914 سافر الي فرنسا للحصول علي درجة الدكتوراه الفرنسية
عمل استاذ للتاريخ اليوناني والروماني سنة1925
عمل استاذ في قسم اللغة العربية في الجامعة الاهلية
اصبح عميدا لكلية الاداب سنة1930'،
لم يكف عن حلمه بمستقبل الثقافة وانحيازه الي المعذبين في الارض
عين وزيرا للمعارف سنة 1950 ،،ظل يكتب في عهد الثورة حتي توفي عبد الناصر .
