الكساح هو الاضطراب العظمي الشائع بين الاطفال والناجم عن ضعف وتلين العظام النتيجه للنقص الحاد والمستمر لفيتامين ( د ) الذي يعزز القدره الامتصاصيه للكالسيوم والفسفور من القناه المعويه المعديه وبالتالي نقص تركيزها في العظم هناك انواع عديده من الكساح ولكن السبب الرئيسي فيها وجود مشكله في تمعدن الكالسيوم والفسفور يتم تصنيع فيتامين د عن طريق الجلد عند التعرض للشمس كما تتواجد نسبه قليله من فيتامين د في بعض الاطعمه
