تقع محافظة غامد الزناد بتهامة الباحة و يربطها طريق بمحافظة المخواة و طريق أيضا لمحافظة بلجرشي بسراة الباحةوتمتد غامد الزناد من وادي الخيطان شرقا إلى ساحل البحر غربا ومن شدا غامد ووادي الاحسبه وناوان شمالا حتى بني سهيم (بالقرن) جنوبا
يتبع محافظة غامد الزناد خمس مراكز إدارية هي :

مركز الفرعة وهو مقر المحافظة
مركز بطاط
مركز يبس
مركز نصبة وجبال المسودة
مركز طفاله
تنقسم غامد الزناد إلى خمسة أقسام رئيسية هي :

القسم الأول : الزناد وهو فخذ شيخ قبائل غامد الزناد

واللحمات و ال سالم والغبشة و ال سليمه وويسكنون قرى وادي بطاط البالغ عددها خمسه وثلاثين قرية.

القسم الثاني : ((القحامية ال علي ال يعلا ال عبيد ويمتدون القحامية من وادي رحاضة إلى قرية مهيوب ووادي العنك )) ال بجاد والجنادبة و المقامشة ال عاطف وال محمد وال صعيب ويسكنون قرى فرعة غامد الزناد البالغ عددها خمسه وسبعين قرية ويقال لهم بني فجاه.
القسم الثالث : المسودة وبني هلال ويسكنون قرى نصبة والمسودة ويبلغ عدد القرى خمسة عشرة قرية.
القسم الرابع : ال عطاف وال شميلة والشعابين وال سواده وال داحشه يسكنون القرى التابعة لمركز يبس والبالغ عددها عشر قرى.
القسم الخامس:ال عياش وهم يسكنون في أعالي جبال طفاله

وقرى غامد الزناد كثيره جدا إذ يبلغ عددها (مائة وخمسه وثلاثين قرية تقريبا )
