القانون ، هو علم اجتماعي يتخصص في دراسة القواعد والقوانين العامة التي تقوم على تنظيم العلاقات المجتمعية بين الأشخاص ، وهذه القواعد القانونية يلتزم بها الجميع وتطبق على كافة الأطياف . تستغرق عادة أربع سنوات في الدول العربية ، وللحصول على شهادة الماجستير من السعودية يشترط أن يكون تقدير الطالب الجامعي في البكالوريس جيد جدا فما فوق .
وعلى الطالب الذي يريد الالتحاق في تخصص القانون ، أن يكون حاصلا على نسبة 80% على الأقل في شهادة الثانوية العامة ، ويجب أن يكون قادرا على حفظ جميع الأنظمة واللوائح والقوانين ودراستها دراسة جيدة وفهم جميع تفاصيلها ، كما أنه يجب أن يكون لديه القدرة على التحليل والاستنتاج ليتمكن من معرفة التغيرات التي تحدث للانظمة والقوانين
