قرابة العقد ظل المبتعث السعودي أحمد الجريد داخل الأراضي الأمريكية ولم يغادر حدودها منذ ٢٠٠٦ في إقامة أشبه ما تكون بالجبرية. ظل أحمد طوال هذه السنين حاملا حقيبة الدراسة على كتفيه ليتم خلالها برنامج البكالوريوس في أنظمة المعلومات، والماجستير في أمن المعلومات وذكاء الأعمال.



وخلال هذه السنين بأفراحها وأتراحها لم يستطع رؤية واحتضان والديه أو إخوته، والسبب أنه مع أول خطوة يغادر فيها أحمد منطقة دائرة الهجرة في المنافذ الأمريكية فليس هناك ضمان بعودته مجددا. مما يعني عدم قدرته إكمال برنامجه الدراسي وتحول سنواته الدراسية إلى سنين عجاف خالية من شهادة أكاديمية أو حتى حكاية إنجاز يباهي بها والديه وأهله.

في منتصف العقد الماضي ومع أولى طلائع برنامج الملك عبدالله للابتعاث الخارجي وضعت السلطات الأمريكية معايير صعبة لإصدار التأشيرة الأمريكية للطلبة المبتعثين، فكانت مدتها لسنة واحدة فقط والمحظوظ منهم يحصل على سنتين وهي مدة بالكاد تكفي لإنهاء برنامج اللغة.



يقول أحمد واصفا تلك المرحلة "وصلت للولايات المتحدة في عام 2006، وكانت تأشيرة الدراسة في تلك الأيام صعبة المنال. فلم يكن يوجد حجز للمواعيد عبر موقع السفارة الأمريكية كما هو الحال الآن، فكنت أضطر إلى إرسال طلب الموعد عبر الفاكس لي ولبقية زملائي بحكم وجود الفاكس في منزلي. وكذلك كنت أقوم بعملية الإرسال أكثر من مرة في اليوم، لعدة أيام متتالية. وبعد محاولات طويلة، أتاني وزملائي الاتصال المنتظر من السفارة بموعد المقابلة. حظي نصفنا بالموافقة على تأشيرة الدخول، بينما رُفض طلب بقية زملائي لتأشيرة الدراسة".



وأضاف: "أما الحاجز الأصعب فكان تجديد التأشيرة الأمريكية فحينما عاد بعض الطلبة إلى السعودية علقوا ما بين مطرقة السفارة الأمريكية وسندان إكمال الدراسة في دول أخرى. يقول أحمد "بعد توجهنا للولايات المتحدة وبدئنا مرحلة الدراسة، فكر البعض بزيارة الأهل في المملكة، وكانت الصدمة بعدم حصول عدد كبير منهم على تجديد لتأشيرة الدراسة مما اضطر لتأخر بعضهم لأشهر وسنوات، كما سبب قلقا للكثير من الطلاب المتبقين في الولايات المتحدة، وسبب في تغيير خطط بعضهم للعودة في الإجازة للزيارة. فأنا كنت أحد هؤلاء الذين آثروا البقاء على العودة. وتحملت عناء عدم الحصول على التأشيرة عن البحث عن دولة أخرى لنقل بعثتي لها، والحصول على قبول جامعي جديد، وطلب نقل الساعات الدراسية والتي قد لا يتم احتساب نسبة كبيره منها".



وأوضح أنه مع تحسن إجراءات إصدار التأشيرات الأمريكية خلال السنوات الأخيرة إلا أن الطلائع الأولى مازالت عالقة ولا يوجد ضمان بتسهيل أمورهم بالعودة لإكمال رحلة الدراسة. وباعتبارها فرصة العمر فظل أحمد وكل من في حالته في ركض مستمر ما بين الملحقية الثقافية السعودية بواشنطن لإبقاء بعثتهم الدراسية فعالة ودائرة الهجرة الأمريكية لإبقاء حالتهم الدراسية مستمرة وبدون توقف حتى لا يتعرضون لمخالفة القوانين الأمريكية، فتنتهي قصتهم بترحيل إجباري فيزداد الطين بلة والأمر علة، لكن ليس هذا كل شيء.!

ومع قرب انتهاء أحمد من مهمته الدراسية يبدو بأنه غير نادم على اتخاذه قرار البقاء فما جناه من علم ومعرفة وبالذات في المجال الأكاديمي يستحق التضحية. بالإضافة إلى اكتسابه معرفة واطلاعا أكثر على ثقافتي الغرب والشرق.
