وبعد قيام الدولة السعودية الثانية حاول حاكمها فيصل بن تركي مد سيطرته إلى البحرين وفتمكن من فرض الزكاة عليها مؤقتًا. واستمرت النزاعات بين الطرفين وامتد حكم آل خليفة في بعض الأوقات إلى قلعة الدمام، إلا أن تلك الفترة شهدت أيضًا دخول الإمبراطورية البريطانية إلى الخليج العربي.
