اكد اللواء عصام خضر مدير عام مركز العمليات بمحافظة سيناء ان الطائرة سقطت فوق منطقة ام قصيرة بمنطقة الكونتيلا حيث اقلعت في السادسة و 10 دقائق من مطار شرم الشيخ وتم فقد الاتصال بعد 93 كيلوا متر شمال طابا بعد 24 دقيقة وايضا عندما قال "أيمن المقدم" رئيس الادارة المركزية للجنة تحقيق حوادث الطيران بمصر ان وكيل شركة الطيران الروسية اخبرهم بسلامه الطائرة الروسية التي فقد الاتصال معها
