By Randa Barghouthi, a psychologist with MSF About 50 members of a Bedouin family in one small area on the borders of the village of Anata in the eastern part of Jerusalem. This is the village hot spot where residents live amid violence from both sides. Legionary stones from Palestinian youths and the Israeli army tear gas, on the other hand, what makes bullets and stones are falling on the area from everywhere. In this regard, the lack of families to a safe place to turn to, they can't live in the area turned into a hotbed of fear and terror. Women and children is the most prominent victims of the violence. They suffer from severe psychological disorders, symptoms worsened when the Israeli authorities demolished their tents. With Mirna *, a 42-year-old Bedouin girl and mother of four sons and three daughters, many symptoms that require psychological intervention, such as excessive fears, bad mood, sleep and eating problems, and Avoidant personality disorder, anxiety and psychosomatic problems. All these problems are symptoms of stress and anxiety after the trauma. So far, four were Myrna individual sessions but will need about 10 to 12 meetings. She also participated in the meeting of the collective consultation of women, says:"Before this, I didn't realize what was happening to me and my children. And I didn't understand what may happen in the future, I was so afraid. As you live in tension, and feel powerless to help myself and my children. But after the meetings, I realized that this reaction to what we've seen and what we have now, the level of tension and concern. It also helped me to understand my children better. On the other hand, I have learned how to deal with the symptoms experienced by sons such as smooth, fear, nightmares, and how to protect them. I've become stronger than ever, I realize now that defending myself and my family, and never give up.We need to share our feelings and our suffering. I feel better because someone understand us.Now the army wants to take our land and destroy our homes. They want to kick us out of here. This may occur at any time. And if so, it will be a very difficult situation. I want to be strong so that I can help myself and my family. And I don't want to see my kids my suffering because they will suffer too. I wish I could help women participating in group counseling one another. Will make us stronger and contribute to the reduction of tension we experience. As it seems we suffer many difficulties in our lives. "As a psychologist, I will pursue the case of Mirna and her family in the coming weeks. Besides the psychological intervention that we do need these people to other things outside the scope of the work of the MSF work therapy. They need to be trained in vocational skills to improve their income, as they need to create a connection between their children and the environment in which they live become more social, and most importantly, getting rid of the constant fear of losing their homes.
