الوطن هو المكان الذي ولدت فيه ، وعشت في كنفه، وكبرت وترعرعت على أرضه وتحت سمائه، وأكلت من خيراته و شربت من مياهه، وتنفست هواءه، واحتميت في أحضانه، فالوطن هو الأم التي ترعانا ونرعاها. هو بضع أحرفٍ تُكوّن كلمة صغيرة في حجمها ولكنّها كبيرة في المعنى؛ فالوطن هو بمثابة الأم والأسرة، وهو الحضن الدّافئ لكلّ مواطنٍ على أرضه، وهو المكان الّذي نترعرع على أرضه، ونأكل من ثماره، ونأكل من خيراته؛ فمهما ابتعدنا عنه يبقى في قلوبنا دائماً. يولد حبّ الوطن مع المواطن منذ الولادة؛ لذلك يُعتبر حبّ الوطن أمراً فطريّاً ينشأ عليه الفرد.

والوطن هو الأسرة التي ننعم بدفئها فلا معنى للأسرة دون الوطن. الوطن هو الامن والسكينة والحرية. الوطن هو الانتماء و الوفاء والتضحية والفداء ومن هذه الحقوق: المحافظة عليه، وحمايته من كلّ شر، والارتقاء به إلى أعلى المراتب، والمحافظة على نظافته، وحماية ممتلكاته العامّة، وأن نفديه بأرواحنا في حال تعرّض لأيّ خطر؛ حيث قال الشاعر في حبّ الوطن: بدم الأحرار سأرويه وبماضي العزم سأبنيه وأشيّده وطناً نضراً وأقدّمه لابني حُرّاً فيصون حماه ويفديه بعزيمة ليث هجام ومن واجب الدولة أيضاً أن تحافظ على الوطن وتحميه، وأن تعدّ له الجيل القويّ المتين عن طريق إعداد الشّباب وتدريبهم وتعليمهم؛ فهم الحامي الأوّل والرّاعي له. وبالإضافة إلى ذلك فإنّ للوطن حقوق على الآباء والأمّهات؛ حيث يتوجّب عليهم أن يعلّموا أبناءهم حبّ الوطن.
