يلقى موضوع تدني المستوى التحصيلي للطلاب إهتمامناً كبيراً من قبل وزارة التربية والتعليم ، المديريات العامة للتربية والتعليم بالمناطق التعليمية ، إدارات المدارس ومعلمي المواد . فلقد تبين ضعف الطلاب على نطاق واسع في المواد الرئيسية كاللغة العربية واللغة الإنجليزية والرياضيات .. ولقد تبين أن هذا الضعف تراكمي حيث ينتقل الطالب من الصف إلى الصف الذي يليه وهو يعاني من الضعف القرائي والكتابي مما يشكل صعوبة في معالجته في المراحل المتقدمة بالطرق التقليدية وبالتالي ينتقل الطالب إلى المرحلة الإعدادية ومن ثم إلى المرحلة الثانوية نقلة كبيرة في الكم والكيف في نوعية الكتب والمواد المقررة .
