Dear Omar,

I know you need some templates for Performance Management, but I haven't got any yet.

A couple of people have said they will forward examples to me, but it may take more than a day.

Take a look at the attached. (I don't like the example they have included, it is too simple.)

The system in the UK is to have a panel (committee) of three or an experienced, trained expert in Headteacher Performance Management.

They do not base the performance on the whole school evidence.

Together with the school principal, they identify areas for improvement and set targets for the coming year..

The performance management process focuses on the priorities and achievement of the targets.

If you prefer to have a whole school approach to assessing the competency (appraising) of school principals, then I suggest that the School Self- Assessment Framework is a very good starting point for developing the templates.

The Framework would need some reorganization to match the Standards, but would direct the assessor/s to the right documentation or set of questions.

The targets for Performance Management could be identified through the assessment process.
