ويتألف المجلس الوطني(البرلمان) من مجلسين، مجلس النواب الذي ينتخب بالانتخابات العامة، بالإضافة إلى مجلس الشورى الذي يعين من قبل الملك الذي تكون السلطات التشريعية والتنفيذية والقضائية بيده وبامره مما يعني ان هذا التصرف يلغي العملية الانتخابية تماما لمجلس النواب. ويتكون كل مجلس من 40 عضوًا ويخدم أعضاء البرلمان أربعة سنين. الانتخابات الافتتاحية لهذا البرلمان الجديد جرت في 2002
