المقيميون الأجانب
هم الأشخاص القادمون من دولة ذات سيادة تم منحهم من قبل السلطات في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة حق الإقامة في الدولة لفترة محددة مسبقاً. الفرد الأجنبي الذي يقيم مؤقتا في الإمارات تحت تأشيرة سائح أو زيارة (لمدة أقل من سنة) لم يتم اعتباره مقيم أجنبي.
الإسناد الزمني لأعداد المقيمين الأجانب
المقيمون الأجانب خلال أي سنة معينة هم جميع المقيمين الأجانب المسجلين لدى وزارة الداخلية حتى متنصف ليلة 31 ديسمبر للسنوات الكاملة، وذلك تحت إقامة غير ملغية (و باحتساب فترة زمنية لإمكانية الإلغاء) أو غير ملغية ولكن منتهية الصلاحية مع ملفات تشير إلى وجود الفرد في الدولة. على هذا النحو، فإن المقيمين الأجانب الموجودين في الدولة خلال السنة والذين تم إلغاء إقامتهم ثم غادروا الدولة قبل منتصف ليلة 30 ديسمبر 2013 لن يتم احتسابهم ضمن إجمالي عدد المقيمين الأجانب لتلك الفترة، والمقيمون الأجانب غير المسجلين لدى وزارة الداخلية (مثال الأجانب الذين دخلوا الدولة بطريقة غير قانونية) لا يتم حسابهم ضمن إجمالي المقيمين الأجانب.
