موقعها وسكانها:
تقع جدة على ساحل البحر الأحمر عند منتصف الشاطئ من الشرق وتعتبر العاصمة الاقتصادية والسياحية للمملكة و تصل مساحتها لأكثر من 70كيلومترا من الشمال للجنوب و50كيلو متراً في اتجاه الشرق ويبلغ عدد سكانها قرابة 4ملايين نسمة .

وقد قُسمت جدة قديما داخل أسوارها إلى عدة أحياء مثل ( حارة المظلوم ) ( حارة الشام )
( حارة اليمن ) ( حارة البحر ) ( حارة الكرنتينة ) وكان لها أبواب خارج السور الذي يحيط بها وهو باب مكة ، باب المدينة ، باب شريف ، باب جديد ، باب البنط ، باب المغاربة . وقد تم إزالة السور عام 1947هـ

مدينة جدة:
تعود نشأة مدينة جدة إلى ما يقارب 3000 سنة على أيدي مجموعة من الصيادين كانت تستقر فيها بعد الانتهاء من رحلات الصيد ، ومنذ ظهور الإسلام في الجزيرة العربية ارتبط تاريخ مدينة جدة بشكل كبير مع تطور التاريخ الإسلامي لكونها بوابة الحرمين الشريفين من اتجاه البحر وقد اكتسبت مكانتها عندما قام الخليفة عثمان بن عفان رضي اللّه عنه سنة 25هـ باختيارها لتصبح ميناء لمكة المكرمة وازدادت أهمية جدة مع مرور الزمن حتى أصبحت واحدة من أكبر المدن وأهمها ، وتحتوي مدينة جدة على أكثر من 330 مركزاً وسوقاً تجارياً، وكما أن جدة تعرف بالمتحف المفتوح وذلك لوجود أكبر عدد من المجسمات الجمالية في ميادينها وشواطئها 360 مجسم صممها فنانون عالميون في فن النحت

ولعل أجمل ما يميز مدينة جدة هو كورنيشها الذي يمتد بطول الساحل لما يزيد عن عشرين ميلاً ويضم أحدث تجهيزات الرفاهية والمناظر الرائعة للبحر الأحمر.

أهم معالم جدة:
أبرق الرغامة: وهو المكان الذي خيم فيه الملك عبد العزيز طيب الله ثراه عند دخوله جدة وهو عبارة عن نصب تذكاري تخليدا لذكرى ذلك الملك المؤسس عبد العزيز بن عبد الرحمن يرحمه الله .

ميناء جدة الإسلامي : الذي أنشئ عام 26هـ في عهد الخليفة عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه .
نافورة جدة : وهي أعلى نافورة في العالم بطول 312م
وتقدر المعالم والأعمال التي تحتضنها مدينة جدة من مجسمات وميادين بنحو 600 عمل،. تنتشر في ميادينها وشوارعها ، شارك في تصميمها عدد من الفنانين والنحاتين العالميين ،
ومن أشهر هذه الميادين ميدان الفلك، ميدان الدراجة، ميدان الكرة الأرضية، ميدان التاريخ ، ميدان الهندسة، ميدان الطائرة، ميدان طارق بن زياد، ميدان النورس، ميدان البيعة، ميدان الصواري ميدان القبضة .

أهم مساجد جدة القديمة:
مسجد الشافعي في حارة المظلوم وهو من أقدم المساجد وقيل أن منارته بُنيت في القرن السابع الهجري
مسجد عثمان بن عفان ويطلق عليه مسجد الأبنوس لوجود ساريتين من خشب الأبنوس به
( وقد ذكره ابن بطوطة وابن جبير في رحلتهما )
مسجد الباشا في حارة الشام وقد بناه بكر باشا الذي ولي جدة عام 1735م
مسجد الملك سعود ويقع في منطقة البلد وتم بناءه في عهد الملك سعود يرحمه الله ويتسع لخمسة آلاف مصل .
وهناك العديد من المساجد مثل مسجد الرحمة على شاطئ البحر ومسجد عكاش وجامع الحنفي الذي بُني عام 1320هـ .

مناخ جدة:
حار صيفاً مرتفع الرطوبة وتنخفض الحرارة شتاءاً .
