بعنوان :" تأثير الرافعة المالية وتكلفة رأس المال على معدل العائد على الاستثمار" هدفت هذه الدراسة لإيجاد العلاقة بين تكلفة التمويل من المصادر الممتلكة والمقترضة والرافعـة المالية من جهة، وبين نسبة العائد من جهة أخرى.وقد أظهرت النتائج أن هناك منـافع كثيـرة تحققهـا المنشآت عندما يزداد اعتمادها على القروض في تمويل استثماراتها إذ يزداد العائد (أي أن هناك علاقـة إيجابية بين تكلفة التمويل وكذلك الرافعة المالية، مع معدل العائد على الاستثمار) .إلا أنه تـزداد درجـة مخاطرة التعرض للتصفية والإفلاس.(برجهام، وويستون 1993)
