You are required to read English stories to at least one child three times (or more) and write a report. The primary purpose for this assignment is for you to experience the process of reading stories to children. It would be the best if you could find children you are familiar with. Find stories you think they may enjoy. Think of ways to tell them the stories you carefully chose for them. For example, how will you get their attention? How will you read stories to them? How will you involve them in your story reading? What will you do when they do not understand the content? You may read stories to children in person or online. If possible, record the story time to help recall and reflect on the experience afterwards. If you are not allowed to record, you may keep fieldnotes in a notebook or on the computer. The information will inform you more about your experience, which in turn will help you compose a quality report. Write a report no more than 2 pages (extra pages won’t get your more points) to describe the experience and your findings. I am particularly interested in knowing what you have learned from the experience and your reflections. For example, how did you find stories interesting to the children; did you try to use different techniques to make your story reading more interesting to the children; how did you help the children understand the story; did you encounter any difficulties during the process and how did you solve the problems; was there anything surprising to you during the process, which taught you any lessons; and so on. A good report should include an introduction as an overview of the report (what’s your thesis statement?), a body with several paragraphs (topic sentences in each paragraph with supporting ideas and concluding sentences) focusing on various points, and a conclusion to summarize (paraphrase) important points and provide a closure to the report. Also, pay attention to the mechanics (grammar, word choice, punctuation marks, spelling). Please follow the format below.
